The farms are going. as my neighborhood in Wilsonville continues to expand it is swallowing up the neighborhood farms. I understand the progress and the homes are selling quickly. I also understand that the farmers who owned the land made a lot of money and are probably enjoying a very nice retirement, but I will miss the farms.

I think what attracts people to this planned community are the many parks, community center, and the 250 acre nature park. The neighborhood also borders a wet lands area where I have seen deer, ducks, geese and bald eagles. We also have a commuter train that connects with MAX and makes for an enjoyable ride to downtown Portland. I seldom use my car and I like that.

I decided to document the changing landscape and a few months ago I posted some photos of the pig farm going under the bulldozer. Now it’s a horse ranch although we still have the horse rehab center and a sheep farm. I think they are both outside the planned community boundaries.
