A little bit of Mississippi, Tennessee, and more Lower Alabama in week 38.
This cornmeal is used in the style of cornbread made in Lower Alabama. It’s an unleavened bread made with hot water and cooked on a griddle. The cornbread is flat, crunchy and delicious.

Love the lighting in your Shiloh shots. 1833 seems like a strange year to die as an “unknown” No major conflicts going on at that time.

Thanks! The light was beautiful that day. The number is for identification rather than marking the year.

Duh…ok, that makes more sense.

The depot seems incredibly grand

It does for such a small town. Holly Springs was once a big rail hub.

Loving the old rail depot, is it abandoned/being restores/active?

It looked like part of it was a residence but it was mostly empty which is a shame.

Shame! Buildings like that need to be restored and maintained. It’s a goal of mine to buy such an old building, restore the exterior and construct a nice home inside.

We peeked into the windows of an empty unit and this depot would make a beautiful home – big windows, hardwood floors and fireplaces. The only downside is it being right next to the active rail yard.

The train Depot shot works for me. Cool place, not much use for these things unless you need a town library.
