Lady Portlandia held us to her bosom and we adverturers slaked out thirsts at her breweries. We ate of her bounty. We basked in her warmth and glow. And we pinholed the shit out of everything.
What started on social media as a pinhole discussion has spawned two international gatherings and a vibrant community of support and creative photography. Last year we met in the flesh in Amsterdam for the first time and this year we converged on Portland, OR. Over the course of days before and after Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day, we met for various explorations, shooting pinhole (and all manner of other cameras too). These four rolls, however, were all shot on WPPD over the course of the entire day.
These photos are not in chronological order, but we started with a 6:30 AM gathering on the side of the Willamette River for a sunrise-ish photoshoot. Strolling through Portland in the morning, through some particularly gritty areas, was a shock to some of our out-of-town attendees. We ambled up mostly empty streets to have brunch at the Crystal Hotel. We then met at the Saturday Market (On a Sunday !) and sauntered about, making pinhole exposures of the bright street scenes. Lunch (Pizza), then a walk to the NewSpace Gallery, and then some more food and drink. Not everyone participated in all activities, but our faction walked almost 15 miles in the course of the day, winding up at a bowling alley for friendly sport at the end of the day.
