Not So Sublime

Today is my 46th roll this year, and my second from the Fujica GW690. This was another test just to get a feel for the camera and to ensure that it all seems to be working fine. The camera does work fine, but the 15 years expired XP2 film is rubbish as can be…

Outdated Impossible Film

A friend sold me some packs of 2011 pre-production PX Black Frame Impossible Film, and another lent me a Polaroid Sun 660 camera.   I had gotten rid of my Polaroid 600 cameras, because the cost of the new Impossible film is just too high, and I didn’t think I’d ever shoot any more. The film…

Week 44: Push it!

Since the darkness has overtaken the area, at least more and more early everyday, I’ve been shooting my Tri-X at 1600 asa. I vastly prefer it pushed than with Ilford Delta 400. The grain is awesome and it just looks like… film I guess. Anyway. Here’s my daughter: And here’s my friends’ band performing at…

Cambo monrail camera

Some friends had a “creativity night” get together at their place where we were encouraged to bring anything creative to work on.  I brought a view camera & a few lenses.  I had never taken pictures with it. One of the lenses I brought was from another monorail camera that I’d picked up at a…

Polaroid mod light leak fixed

A while back, a friend modded a Polaroid Land camera by putting a Copal shutter on it.   But it leaked a lot in the middle of the photos.   I threw away the examples of the leak. I gaffer taped up the front of the camera a lot, but it still leaked.   However, I suspected that…

Haida Gwaii Alley

This roll of film, my 45th this year, is the last from visits to Haida Gwaii. Once again it is shot in the Village of Masset, but this time on Neopan Acros. I walked into this alley behind the “Christ for First Nations” church (broken windows in the church suggest it’s not going over…

15-34: Expired Tri-X and Diafine

Another roll and a new developer.  Diafine was suggested by Leslie Lazenby from the Film Photography Project to help with shadow detail and is known for pushing EI. I still think HC110 may be better. This shot needs cleaning up, but I really like the feeling it conveys.

15-33: Expired Portra 160NC test

I bought a bulk roll of 160 for more than I should have…oops. Its fine at EI 50 but after that it degrades quickly. Worst case: EI 640…bleh Indoor with good flash saturation looks alright at 160 but very grainy compared to fresh portra. I shot a few rolls of this overseas and got mixed…

15-31: Family and neighborhood

This roll was out of focus mostly, but two shots are keepers and one shot is close. I was testing a Spotmatic SP from the bay and shot a roll with a Zeiss Jena zebra style lens from the Soviet era. Apparently I need practice! Every time I shoot a picture of Marx hardware with…
