Week Zero – An Introduction Colin Reynolds

Hi Folks

I just wanted to introduce myself and say how happy I am to be part of this adventure. I got back in to film about 3 years ago after 10 years of digital. I had shot film for 20+ years before that right from taking my first picture on my Dad’s camera at the age of 8. I love the process, the chemistry and the magic – it is a perfect antidote to the instant gratification that we have today.

My main camera for this project will be a Hasselblad 503 CW with Tri X, a bit of leftover Pan F and an occasional roll of Portra for a subtle splash of colour. I also intend to use a large format camera and shoot a couple of sheets in a week and finally I will occasionally put a roll of expired TMax through a Nikon FG that belonged to my wife.

I will be developing all of the film, so there may be a delay between a week and the results and will also for the keepers be printing them at home.

I intend to have a theme each week and will post a statement of intent at the beginning of the week about what I intend to shoot. I also have a couple of projects on the go that will get some exposure during the year – one is around the decay and ageing of colour and the other exploring a small area of conservation land close to my home.

Finally I am really looking forward to seeing the results of everybody’s work in the group – I am sure it will provide lots of inspiration and discussion.

  1. Hi Colin, sounds like we have walked a similar path with film to digital and back to film though I have not returned to processing my film or prints since my return to film shooting. It will be interesting to see your work.
