Texans have a special relationship with water, probably due to the fact that we rarely get enough of it. The deep love really seems to manifest itself in an extra special way in the area around Austin. Rainy days are usually something to be excited about, not just for the good of the earth, but rainy days also fill the greenbelt, and that’s something to celebrate!
After a recent rainy period, I took my daughter to Campbell’s Hole (a part of the greenbelt in south Austin). The site of flowing water over smooth rock is something that makes my heart sing with joy; I have far too many photographs of the land absolutely bone dry. Louise got soaking wet and had at least as much fun as all the adults hanging out in the sun drinking beer. I had my Brownie, and made these, all on a roll of Kodak Tri-X. Austin at its best!
