Week 20 continued: Sprocket Rocket

In addition to the roll that I shot through the Lomokino, week 20 also saw me burn up another roll of TMax through another Lomography creation, the Sprocket Rocket.

The camera shoots a 106º field of view across the width of 2 standard 24x36mm frames, and it also exposes the sprocket holes. Like the Lomokino, the results leave the viewer in no doubt that they pictures were shot using an analogue, film camera.

Like many Lomography products, the camera is entirely plastic, including the lens, but when the light is good, results are pretty cool. In true Lomography style, it’s not a camera for people that like to be in complete control of their shots.

The user can select either BULB or NORMAL shutter speed, SUNNY or CLOUDY aperture settings and focus at <1m or 1m-∞. But the camera’s neatest trick is that film can be wound forwards or backwards at will, meaning that frames can be overlapped, exposed multiple times and in any sequence.

Anyway, the same subject matter as the other roll this week – that is Emily’s first week as bipedal! Oh, and some cows that live at the bottom of our garden, much to Emily’s delight.Sprocket TMax-2

  1. Hello, thanks for sharing these nice family pictures, congratulations about bipedalism. I was wondering what do you use to hold the negatives in the scanner?

    • Hi – I actually just hold them down with a piece of non-reflective glass that I bought from a picture framer’s shop. It’s probably not exactly the right thing, but does the job perfectly and cost me only a few pounds (they cut it to the exact size That I asked for too.
I have a Lomography Digitialiser that they sell for this purpose, but it still cuts the edges off the negatives.

  2. I love the cows!!! But the kid is pretty cute, too. I’ve been wanting to pick one of these up for fun, maybe I will after seeing these shots.

    • Just to clarify, I was planning to pick up a Sprocket Rocket, not a cow. Or a small child. Already done that, had the fun, get to borrow the grandkids now.
