Week 34/35

Still playing catchup. Here are two rolls I shot this summer while passing through the historic settlement of Nevada city/ Virginia City Montana. It is a bit of a tourist trap, but a fantastic source of ghost town architecture to photograph.

These 6×6 images were made with my Mamiya 6, wide angle 50 mm lens, Kodak Tmax 100 film (EI 50), developed in Photographers formulary FA 1027 developer, and scanned on an Epson V700 flatbed scanner.

I tried something different this time with the scanning. On the recommendation of Nathan McCreery, a professional photographer I’ve taken workshops with, I scanned these B&W negatives as color and later converted the images back to monochrome. This is supposed to help with scanning artifacts. Hard for me to say if its helped or not, but it hasn’t done any harm. I kept a few of them unconverted because I liked to “toned” look to them.
