Onto my second week. I could not think of a better post than pictures of some of my great friends and my amazing wife. It was Morgan Lowis’ 50th birthday party and she coupled it with the annual Bristol Highlands’ Pig Roast. Great music, wonderful time. This is the first time I have ever shot with a flash and an SLR. I used a Nikon F4s and 35-70 F 2.8D lens. Kodak Portra 400. Next time I’ll use manual focus, I was a bit skittish on doing so this time and the camera hunted a bit. But it found the mark often enough. I love the imperfection of film and its spontaneity. I developed in Unicolor C-41 chemicals and scanned the images. They are unedited, I like to let the film do the talking when I can. It’s odd that as I start this project I am shooting color film. I have shot black and white for 90 percent of my film images prior but I have a hankering to try to learn the subtleties of color. I’m not very good at it but hope from this project to get better. I love the feeling of anticipation before a roll is developed, especially when trying a new technique or tool.
