I took a drive to Fogland today and shot in harsh light (again). I am experimenting with the Contax G2, thinking I might use it on an upcoming trip. It is a difficult camera to shoot, focus is a bit finicky. There is no functional manual focus. With the setup I had low contrast scenes did not render very well. These are the passable shots from the roll of Ektar. I was not feeling terribly creative and unsure with the camera. I’ll give it another run in better light. My dogs love the beaches in Tiverton and Little Compton as much as I do. Duke dashes into the water after the gulls. Lilly follows dutifully at my side. Dog bath and car full of sand day…..Until next week….
This image rendered well, the sun was at my back. Shots with the sun more direct did not render well, very low contrast. This is not a camera for using a polarizer easily since it is not a TTL viewfinder, it’s a funky full auto rangefinder.
Focus is difficult on close-up images with this camera. After getting focus confirmation it is important to check the confirmed focus distance in the viewfinder to make sure the focus point is not somewhere in outer space!
The Zeiss 45mm F2 has a 3D quality if exposed properly.
