The mountains of Sao Miguel are a breathtaking product of volcanic fury. The building shown is an abandoned hotel overlooking the island from a beautiful vantage point. These images were shot with a Leica M3 and a 50mm Summicron. The landscapes were mostly shot using the peculiar Leica polarizing filter. It flips up for viewing and adjustment by eye, then flips back down in the same orientation, a testament to Germanic ingenuity. The filter adds a unique texture to the shots, something I have observed before.
Wonderful shots,!!! Lou

Ooooooo! I just found one of those amazing flip up polarizers for the Mamiya-7 and -6. Have tested it but not posted yet. It is a great idea! and it does work too. Mamiya probably did ‘borrow’ the idea from Leica. Cross pollination shall we say.
