[raulpc] week 29 – more 6×17

This time again with my DIY 6×17, just for the fun of it, again some old expired Ektachrome… more fascination in chrome… and look at these positives in hand with endless fascination! I know digital folks can crop whatever they want this format, but is it the same?

[raulpc] week 28 – 6×17

I have a fascination for this 6×17 format, specialy chrome mode, just looking at this colorfull large wide image, and it comes from a long ago, when in early seventies past century my father introduced home 35mm slides… those evening dark projections of them against the white wall… magical! This week in pinhole, with RsSubtle…

[raulpc] week 27 – more 4×5

I love large format photography, the fun of using those cameras, the level of detail, the slow pace… here with my Graflex Crown Graphic, on a Schneider Apo-Symmar 180mm, FP4 developed in PMK, looking down on a portuguese village, Castelo de Vide… made 4 sheets, this one was the best!

[raulpc] week 26 – 4×5 Provia 100F

Taking the long look this 26th week, with my Calumet armed with the Nikkor T ED 600mm, bellows stretched up to the limit. On 4×5 it means 150mm on 35mm format. And it’s absolutely marvelous to look at in the ground glass!

[raulpc] week 24 – thin TMax 400

Again on the side of 6×17, here with my DIY camera, on a garden around here at Lisbon, looking wide on a subject just for the fun of it. Development in Tanol, and upon first wet look, a thin negative like nothing had been captured on it, almost transparent. Well, film is magic really. Something…

[raulpc] week 23 – Pinhole 6×17

My first try on this amazing camera, the RealitySoSubtle 6×17, that I just start to love. Curved film plane and specialy the double pinhole for up or down horizon are the best features. So I took it off with Delta 100 inside, what else, and placed it on four feet fully stabilized, exposure and reciprocity…

[raulpc] week 22 – Balda by the river on FP4…

Another walk around Lisbon, this time the other side of the Tejo, with my Happo-66E, the smallest medium format I have. Sunny 16, f/16 as usual, focused to 6m all the time, meaning everything in focus from 3m to infinity, my way to of auto-focus… this was it, a little crop for equilibrium, a little…

[raulpc] week 21 – Reala

This is one thing that fascinates me, shooting with film and film cameras, that is, if you use a digital camera, you have ONE, the, digital camera, and that is it! You shoot and all the thought work is done afterwards, you do not have to think on the set. With film, and film cameras,…

[raulpc] week 20 – Me and my DIY 11×14 Camera…

…seen in 4×5! Another adventure, to build a ULF 11×14 camera. These are always expensive cameras, in whatever way, so I thought, why not build one? That was the dream start. I already had a lens, the Nikkor-W 360mm, that I found out was covering 11×14 (diagonal 447mm), with an image circle at f/22 of…

[raulpc] week 19 – CineStill 800T

My first experiment in trying this CineStill 800T, in 35mm mode with the F4, made around Cascais, Portugal, just pointing and shooting, the machine does it all, and I must say I just loved it. Ended up using it in daylight, not Tungsten as it says, and as recommended with a Nikon A12 (85B equivalent)…

[raulpc] week 18 – Figueres – Spain

Still in Spain for week eitghteen. This time in 35mm b&w mode, F4, cannot identify the film… just pointing the camera around, AF and Auto Exposure, point&shoot. Figueres is Dali territory, but all those landmark places were crowded and when this happens, I go the other way thinking about returning with less people around. These…
