Sandspit – Haida Gwaii

2016-olymjuii-007-22

One of my trips this past summer was to Haida Gwaii (formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands). My trip took me to work for several weeks as an on-board expert on a cruise. The vessel was the Passing Cloud, a schooner that spends part of each year in the Gwaii Haanas national park at the south end of Haida Gwaii. To get there we landed at the Sandspit airport on the NE corner of Moresby Island and spent a night prior to boarding a float plane for the trip down to the boat. These shots were all taken in Sandspit, see this link for a map of the location.

Due to weight and space considerations the only film camera I took with me was the Olympus mjuii (aka Stylus Epic) – it had performed well for me in Gwaii Haanas in the summer of 2015 (if you search this blog you will find my 2015 posts from various parts of Haida Gwaii). In addition, there are many posts shot with digital cameras on my blog made while aboard the Passing Cloud this summer (here).

  1. Reblogged this on burnt embers and commented:

Roll 29 from this year is now up at 52 Rolls. A few of the pictures from this roll have shown on my blog earlier this fall, but most have not yet surfaced here, so click on the link to get to 52Rolls and have a look – nearly the whole roll is posted there.
