This roll is a “Holy Crap! thats amazing!” roll of film. First, I shot it on my Canon A-1, my first 35mm SLR given to me by my father in 1989. Usually, we see each other once a year, but he was working close enough to see us once a week for a while and we got to spend some fantastic quality time together doing regular stuff people do in life.
Like taking out the trash and cleaning up my messy shop and taking the scrap metal to the scrap yard…
…where I saved this guys life! My dad and I are in the truck waiting our turn when this man gets out of his and walks to the registration counter. The truck starts rolling back towards us, so he rushes around to stop it but halfway in the door he falls down. He is laying under the truck, its dragging him and he’s straddling the front wheels. I jumped out and sprinted to him stopping the 12,500 lb truck just before he was crushed under it. By then, this elderly man who could not get off the ground without help was barely holding the brake pedal with his fingertips. The woman at the counter was panicking because she could see it but couldn’t get out of the little building to do anything. My adrenaline was pumping, this was almost a horror story. I snapped a quick shot after I got back to the truck.
On a more normal note, I was also happy with this portrait of my son.
And to really get anticlimactic, I got a nicely exposed night shot that is maybe not that exciting.
I know this stuff is pretty personal, but all that together makes this roll very important and I would want to save it more than most.
Shot on some 20 year old Universal 400 film which I know nothing about, but it came out pretty well for its age.
Not everyone gets to save someone. Great reflexes and being alert. Plus photos
